PPP-MQM talks on LG system continue
KARACHI: The ongoing talks between the core committee of ruling Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on local government system continued with some matters resolved.
The meeting held at the Chief Minister House was attended by Aga Siraj Durrani, Syed Murad Ali Shah and Muhammad Ayaz Soomro of the PPP, while the MQM was represented by Dr Farooq Sattar, Syed Sardar Ahmed, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Dr Saghir Ahmed and Wasay Jalil.
A handout issued here said the committee deliberated upon different section of Sindh Local Government Act 2010 and many issues were resolved. Both parties hoped that the proposed Act would be finalized soon.
Later, while talking to journalists, PPP minister Siraj Durrani said we are moving ahead, and if meetings took place at that pace LG elections could be held in October or November.
'Right now PPP is taking MQM into confidence then the draft law would shared with other allies.'
