Raisani orders operation against criminals in Balochistan* CM for improved system of inter-departmental information sharing

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani has decided law-enforcement agencies to launch an operation against criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom and target killings, and eliminate their dens completely, besides bringing them to justice.
He issued the direction at a high-level meeting to review the overall situation of law and order, with special emphasis on terrorism in Quetta, kidnapping for ransom and other anti-social activities across the province.
The meeting decided to utilise all available resources to implement the directions of the Supreme Court with regard to improving law and order in Balochistan.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the overall situation and approved a strategy to tackle such criminal activities. The meeting also discussed the extracts of the Saturday’s meeting, chaired by the Balochistan chief minister, held in connection with law and order of the province, in which it was decided that operations against criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom, target killings and other crimes would be initiated.
The meeting was informed that a survey of residents started by the police and Levies at the thana level, would be completed soon.
It was further decided that the police, Levies, administration and employees of Balochistan Constabulary would participate in the survey, and would visit door to door to collect data of people. The meeting also approved to seek assistance of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for the purpose. It was decided that complete data of those working at coalmines would be prepared, for which directions had been issued to the labour and manpower, and the minerals departments.
It was also decided that coordination between departments would be increased further to promote confidence building among institutions. The meeting observed that the police force needed to be more activated, and decided to impart latest training to police officials, besides equipping them with latest weapons.
It was also decided that 100 cameras would be installed at different places across Quetta, while police would soon be provided with GSM locators, which would help them locate the dens of anti-social elements.
The meeting further decided to improve internal and external security of the province, and stressed the need for joint operations of departments concerned in this regard.
Moreover, law-enforcement agencies were directed to increase the number of their personnel in the city and enhance patrolling so that criminals could not escape.
It was also decided that terrorist activities would never be allowed to affect the mining sector and other developmental activities, and a complete security cover would be provided to the people working at mines and in other sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Aslam Raisani directed the departments concerned to improve the system of inter-departmental information sharing.
He categorically stated that the immediate reaction group of the Balochistan Constabulary would be deployed at sensitive places in order to thwart any untoward situation.
The chief minister also directed all departments concerned to submit day-to-day and weekly reports of measures taken in the light of decisions made at the meetings on Saturday and Sunday.
Balochistan Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad, FC Inspector General Maj Gen Obaidullah Khitab, Home Secretary Nasibullah Khan Bazai, Special Branch DIG Rehmatullah Khan Niazi, Quetta CCPO Mir Zubair Mehmood, Quetta Commissioner Qambar Dashti and officials from all departments concerned attended the meeting.
