Arsalan review petition: SC issues notices to AG, Riaz
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has issued notices to Attorney General (AG), Malik Riaz and other respondents, seeking descriptive answers by one week in the Arsalan Iftikhar review petition case.The bench consisting of Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khalji Arif heard the case here on Tuesday.
Justice Khalji Arif in his remarks said that the option in reviewing court's order is very limited.
Arsalan's lawyer Sardar Ishaq in his arguments said that as per orders of Supreme Court, attorney general wrote a letter to NAB for investigating the scandal, adding that NAB is a sovereign institution.
Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja asked deputy attorney general about the letter written to the NAB for that deputy attorney general expressed unawareness.
Meanwhile, Malik Riaz'z lawyer Zahid Bukhari told Supreme Court that the attorney general may have written the letter adding that he doesn't know about it. The review petition is not worth hearing and he will submit a written reply in this regard, he added.
Sardar Ishaq Khan advocate stated that the NAB's joint investigating team is unlawful, asking the court to stop the team from the work.
The next hearing will held on 24 July.
