Border attacks on agenda as Raja visits Kabul today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf will visit Afghanistan today (Thursday) for talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, with cross-border attacks by terrorists on the agenda, officials said. The prime minister will discuss Taliban peace talks and cross-border attacks from Afghanistan, during his upcoming trip to Kabul. The trip will be the first for Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to Afghanistan since he became prime minister last month. His spokesman, Akram Shaheedi, said on Wednesday that Pakistan supports peace talks with the Afghan Taliban, but the outcome should not adversely affect the country. Shaheedi said the prime minister also plans to push the Afghan government to stop terrorists from its country from infiltrating Pakistan. There has been a spurt in cross-border attacks in the past month. On Wednesday security officials said troops killed six terrorists as they tried to cross from Afghanistan in the northwestern district of Chitral. agencies
