First CEC of opposition choice in history: Shah
SUKKUR: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Syed Khursheed Shah Saturday said it has happened for the first time in the country's history that a Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of the opposition's choice had been appointed.
Talking to mediamen during a programme here at Civil Hospital Sukkur, Khursheed Shah said President Asif Ali Zardari was making every possible effort to ensure free and transparent elections in the country so that a party that gets public mandate be elected to power.
Earlier, addressing the gathering he said the government had handed over to the hospital modern medical equipment worth Rs50 million including an ambulance, X-Ray and ultrasound machines.
The Federal Minister ordered MPA, Dr Nasrullah Baloch to undertake at least 3-4 visits to the hospital every couple of weeks to assess patients' problems.
