President, PM actions have immunity: Naek
ISLAMABAD: Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek Saturday said that the actions taken by president, prime minister and ministers have constitutional immunity under article 242 of the constitution and they can not be challenged.Talking to media outside the Sindh High Court, the federal minister said that it is not written anywhere in the Contempt of Court amendment that court’s decision does not applied on prime minister or president.
Naek said that the government respects the judiciary and it doesn’t want to cut powers of latter.
On appointment of judges, the law minister said that the bar councils and law ministry should also have a right to recommend names. He said that there is a need to make amendments in this regard.
He said that they want clashes among institutions adding that if all three institutions work under the parameters set in the constitution then democracy can not be derailed.
