Malik is back in Senate
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senators on Friday walked out of the Upper House a session called only to take oath from newly elected PPP Senator Rehman Malik. On a point of order, the PML-N senators asked the House why was the session summoned in haste. They said the session was called only to administer oath to Malik at a cost of Rs 140 million. All PML-N senators staged a walkout from the House. Leader of the House Jehangir Badr said that the impression given by the PML-N that the session was called only to administer oath to Malik, was wrong. He said some business was pending regarding the president’s address to the joint parliamentary session. Opposition leader Ishaq Dar said Badr was trying to justify the session, adding that it was clear that there was a calendar year for running the Upper House and there was no date for calling the session these days. He also said the government had a majority and could summon the session anytime.
