NAB forms committee to curb fraud with Hajj pilgrims

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, on Friday, constituted a Prevention Committee on Hajj Group Organisers and Ministry of Religious Affairs to minimise chances of corruption and fraud with pilgrims.

The committee will assist the ministry in preparing policies, rules and regulations and criterion for Hajj regulators to ensure meritocracy, fair play and transparency so the pilgrims in particular and public at large are facilitated in an efficient manner.

An official statement stated that the meeting of this committee, which included the representatives from Ministry of Religious Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Revenue, Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Interior, Pakistan International Airlines, Saudi Airlines, Cabinet Division and representatives of Hajj operators, would be held on July 31 at the NAB Headquarters, Islamabad.

The committee will prepare recommendations regarding Hajj organisers’ registration, hiring of building in Saudi Arabia, booking and ticketing system, awareness campaigns and all other related matters to Hajj and ziaraat.
