Raja, Gilani discuss political situation
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, on Sunday, met former PM Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Presidency and discussed with him on wide range of issues including the current political situation of the country. Raja also congratulated Gilani on the success of his son, Abdul Qadir Gilani, in NA-151, Multan. Raja said that the result in the by-election has silenced all those who had doubts about the popularity of PPP. He expressed that the PPP, along with its allies, would win the next general elections as well. The prime minister said that Gilani's commitment to uphold the constitution would be remembered for long time. He also reiterated the government's resolve to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country. Raja said that the appointment of Fakhruddin G Ibrahim as chief election commissioner should put to rest any speculations about the next general elections. Gilani also thanked the prime minister for his sentiments. He said that he would continue to work for the party and welfare of the people. staff report
