PTI to move Election Tribunal for PA Speaker ineligibility

LAHORE: President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab, Aijaz Ahmed Chaudhry alleged that the Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Rana Iqbal had resorted to rigging in his constituency in the May 11 polls, saying his party will approach Election Tribunal for his (Rana Iqbal’s) ineligibility.

Addressing a press conference, flanked by Yasmin Rahid, at a PTI Punjab office here Chaudhry alleged that massive rigging was carried out in the incumbent PA Speaker Rana Iqbal in PP-184 Kasoor in general elections.

He said the Election Commission had seized 21,200 ballot papers missing the mandatory signatures of presiding officers. “The opposition leader has been directed to file an adjournment motion,” he added.

Chaudhry told the reporters that PTI Chairman Imran Khan would issue a ‘White Paper’ against the alleged rigging on August 1.

He also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo moto notice of the alleged rigging.
