KP to form independent accountability cell: Imran

* PTI chief says biogas will be used to produce electricity for Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that an independent accountability department would be constituted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure a transparent and well-developed system and to eliminate corruption. He stated this while talking to media persons on Wednesday. Imran Khan said that the proposed accountability cell would not work under the government but function independently. He said that the PTI was following the policy of harmony and did not want to destabilise the system. The PTI chairman urged the federal government led by the PML-N to take hard steps in the larger interest of country, as it was facing multifaceted crisis. Imran said that unity, mutual cooperation and sincerity were needed to drag the country out of prevailing crisis.

Talking to a private TV channel, Imran said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has good potential to produce hydropower and many small hydropower stations could be set up in the province to generate cheap electricity. He said that provincial government would also utilize biogas to produce electricity for Peshawar city to meet its energy demand. He said that PTI had conducted intra-party elections to strengthen democracy.

Replying to a question, the PTI chief said that the son-in-law of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister was a political personality and his party had given him ticket on merit. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had allocated 19 percent budget for the education sector. Imran claimed that the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would eliminate corruption from the province in ninety days. He was of the view that the government should take difficult decisions for the betterment of the country. agencies
