PM orders completion of Lahore-Karachi Motorway within 2.5 years

BEIJING: Pakistan and China Friday ratified a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation form the construction of Lahore-Karachi Motorway project.

Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, and Chairman China State Construction Engineering Corporation, Yi Jun, signed the MoU from their respective sides.

Talking to Pakistan Television after the signing ceremony, Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, ordered the completion of Lahore-Karachi Motorway within two and a half years after finalizing the feasibility study of the project in three months.

He said the government was committed to provide comfortable and affordable transport facilities to its citizens within minimum possible time.

While stressing for expeditious completion of project, Nawaz Sharif, however, was categorical to state that the government would not compromise on the quality of the construction work.
