KP by-polls: Opposition parties to field joint candidates

PESHAWAR: Opposition parties have expedited efforts to field joint candidates for by-polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Geo News reported.

The sources revealed that the talks between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Awami National Party (ANP) to finalize the names of consensus candidates were in the last leg.

ANP’s delegation led by party’s central vice president, Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, met the JUI-F leader Akram Khan Durrani. According to sources, both the leaders agreed on joint candidates to contest by-poll.

Talking to newsmen, Bilour said that the dialogue with JUI-F would conclude by evening. On the other hand while Durrani told the media that both the parties would field joint candidates for by-polls, however a final decision in this regard would be taken by July 9.
