Shah nominates former judges Bhagwandas, Raza for NAB chairman
ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah has put forward the names of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas and Justice (retd) Sardar Raza for the chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Shah put forward these names in his reply to a letter by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif regarding the appointment of a NAB chairman.
Speaking to the media, Shah said he had nominated individuals for the post who would be difficult to discredit. Shah added that he had not opposed the nominees of the prime minister, but had rather just put forward his own nominees.
According to Shah it was now up to the government to see how they would hold consultations over the appointment.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had earlier nominated Justice (retd) Rehmat Hussain Jaffery and Khawaja Zaheer for the post of NAB chairman.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has expressed resentment over the failure to appoint a NAB chairman and has asked the concerned authorities to fill the post at the earliest.
