Sindh police chalks out plan to ensure security in Ramazan
KARACHI: On the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Karachi police have prepared Ramazan Contingency Plan and dispatched it to police stations besides issuing orders to Zonal DIGs and SSPs of five districts in this regard.
Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo told the IGP Sindh in monthly report that the lists of mosques, imambargahs, madaris and open places for prayers and Tarawih, shopping centers, recreational parks have been updated. The report said 3328 mosques, 257 imambargahs, 1007 madaris, 306 open places for prayers and Tarawih, 294 shopping centers have been included in contingency plan for extraordinary security.
The steps have also been made to ensure patrolling with 366 police mobile vans and motorcycles.
Additional IG Karachi informed in the report that 700 police national volunteers would be deployed along with police for providing security to congregations of prayers and Tarawih for three 'Ashra', including Youm-e-Ali and Shab-e-Qadr, during the holy month of Ramazan at police station level.
Police control rooms at range and district levels are also being established besides setting up police reporting centers. Police watch towers towards main shopping centres would also be erected. The policemen would be deployed on rooftops while deployment of cops in civvies would also be ensured in the city for intelligence collection.
The parking sites would be set up at a suitable distance from important installations.
The clearance of parking areas by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and their monitoring would be made to ensure security. The flag marches by special police squads have also been made to raise awareness among people about sense of security during the holy month of Ramazan.
