SC suspends two Punjab MPAs over degree issue
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has suspended the membership of two Punjab MPAs, Shaukat Aziz Bhatti and Khawaja Islam, over fake degrees, whereas it has reserved the decision on the degree of Samina Khawar Hayat.
The three-member bench of the court restarted the hearing of the fake degrees’ case on Wednesday. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry presided over the bench. The chief justice said in his remarks that the constitution of the country was made in 1973 and now the implementation of articles 62 and 63 must be ensured.
He asked why had the Election Commission of Pakistan not used its authority so far in this regard by disqualifying the members of parliament like Shaukat Aziz Bhatti who have fake degrees. online
