LG polls in cantonment areas: Defence ministry contacts ECP
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Denfence has contacted the Election Commission of Pakistan to seek its assistance in holding local bodies elections in cantonment areas.
The Election Commission has told the ministry that the elections were not possible without legislation.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered the Defence Ministry to hold election in cantonment areas across the country.
However, now the ministry has been informed by the ECP that delimitations and other legal requisitions would have be carried out before the election.
