Punjab governor’s resignation accepted; NAB chief sackedISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday approved the resignation of Punjab Governor Makhdum Syed Ahmad Mahmud and appointed Punjab Assembly speaker to perform his functions until the appointment of new governor. Mahmud had tendered his resignation in May which was sent to the Cabinet Division after the approval of the president. President Zardari also approved the termination of Admiral (r) Fasih Bokhari as NAB chairman with effect from the date of judgement of the Supreme Court in a constitutional petition for this purpose. staff report/agencies
