Police, Rangers blame each other for suspect's death
KARACHI: A suspect died at the Sachal police station here on Friday as the Rangers and police lay blame on each other.
Bilal alias Malla was detained under suspicion of being involved in an attack on the Rangers two days ago. Sources confirmed that the accused Bilal was brought to the Sachal Police Station with severe injuries which led to his death in the lock-up.
Police claimed that Bilal along with three others was brought to the station by Rangers officials. DIG East has ordered an investigation into the incident.
According to the MLO report, the accused was tortured 36 hours prior to his death by being electrocuted and beaten with steel rods.
A spokesman for the Rangers has claimed that Bilal along with other accused had been handed over safe and sound to the police on July 17.
