APC on Imran’s return from abroad: Pervaiz

LAHORE: Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervaiz Rasheed said on Saturday that All Parties Conference (APC) would be convened on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s return from a foreign visit. “The PML-N government has been considering various steps to formulate a consensus policy regarding terrorism in the country”, he said while talking to the media after addressing Pride of Punjab ceremony at Punjab Institute of Language Art and Culture (PILAC). The minister said that the government would utilise all resources to make Pakistan stronger and peaceful. To a query, he said that the government was considering the possibility of releasing a copy of the Abbottabad Commission Report. The minister said that a Ministerial Committee, led by former law minister Farooq H Naek, had opposed the publication of Abbottabad Commission Report. About intelligence sharing, Pervaiz Rasheed said that a terrorist gang had been apprehended in Karachi and the success had been due to the enhanced intelligence coordination between the agencies. The PML-N government overcame the lack of coordination amongst the law enforcement agencies which existed during the previous regime, he added. He said that a comprehensive strategy would be adopted against the terrorist outfits, saying that the premier had called for briefing from agencies concerned for a consolidated national security strategy. Regarding nominations for the president and governors, the minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would himself announce the names of the PML-N’s candidates for the offices of president and governor. He said that the PML-N government had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to reschedule the presidential election as it would be the 27th of Ramazan on the announced date of election, adding that the government had the support of the political leadership of the country on this point. app
