ECP directives for presidential election voting

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued guidelines for parliamentarians regarding voting in the presidential election on August 6.

The president will be elected via a secret ballot, as parliamentarians will have to place a cross next to the name of the candidate they are voting for. Parliamentarians will be provided a special pencil for the voting process and no other pencil of pen will be allowed.

Senators will cast their vote followed by National Assembly Members.

Meanwhile, the ECP has issued directives to registrars of high courts that presidential nomination papers can be accepted till noon on Wednesday. The candidate or his representative should be present at the time of submitting nomination papers.
