Presidential election: Parliament summoned for July 30

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has summoned the Parliament on July 30 at 10:00 am in the Parliament House, for the election to the Office of President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

According to an official press release here Thursday, the Speaker has summoned the Parliament in exercise of powers conferred by clause (b) of Rule 9 of the Presidential Election Rules, 1988.

The speaker before announcing the beginning of the vote will declare the parliament house as polling station.

On the occasion, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim would assume the role of Returning Officer, and Chief Justice Islamabad High Court that of Presiding Officer.

The candidates for the office of President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan from the leading parties are: Mamnoon Hussain from Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N); Mian Raza Rabbani from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and; Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). (Geo/APP)
