Railways fares decreased: Rafique
LAHORE: Railways fares for AC sleeper and AC business class have been decreased, while the fare for economy class remains unchanged.
During a news conference at the Railways headquarters here, Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique announced the decision to decrease fares. For the next three months, fares on all trains excluding the Karakorum Express will be decreased by 17-57 percent. The lowest fare on the branch line has been decrease to Rs20.
Rafique said Railways has received Rs1.57 billion from China which was to be used for the purchase of 75 engines, while Rs30 million had also been received from the Punjab government. He added that the Railways daily deficit had decreased to Rs90 million and the departure and arrival times would be fixed by 80 per cent by the end of the year.
