Pervaiz Rashid thanks MQM for backing Mamnoon
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday said the PML-N was thankful to the MQM for its unconditional support for Mamnoon Hussain in the upcoming presidential election. Talking to reporters at the Lahore airport, the minister said that Mamnoon Hussain belonged to Karachi, and it was necessary for him to canvass in his home city. He said that cooperation of all political parties was required to maintain law and order in Karachi. Rashid said that no political party in Pakistan had any role in complexities the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was facing in the UK. Meanwhile, Rashid said that the boycott of presidential election by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was against democratic norms and principles. Talking to a private TV channel, the minister said that the government believed in the policy of dialogue for promoting democratic culture and ensuring stability of democracy and democratic institutions in the country. He said the government would implement decisions of the superior courts in letter and spirit. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believed in the politics of tolerance, political harmony and promotion of political stability in the country. He said the government would address all the reservations of opposition parties, as his party “welcomes positive criticism”. To a question, the information minister said that the government desired to have consensus among all stakeholders to effectively tackle all challenges being faced by the country. agencies
