Chinese Navy Hospital Ship arrives in Karachi
KARACHI: Chinese Navy Hospital Ship `Peace Ark’ arrived in Karachi on Monday, a Pakistan Navy press release said.
It stated that on arrival, the Chinese ship was escorted by PNS Saif.
The ship prior to reaching Karachi has visited Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Cuba, Costa Rica, Jamaica and other countries.
‘Peace Ark’ is a 300-bed hospital ship having a medical crew of 100 and equipped with CT, DR coloured ultrasound, automatic biochemical analyser, anesthesia, breathing machine and higher pressure sterilisation disinfection machine.
The hospital ship consists of several specialised medical departments, including cardiovascular, medicine department, general surgery department, orthopaedics department, neurosurgery department, dental department and blood transfusion department. Peace Ark has 20 intensive care units and eight operation theatres having room for 40 major surgeries simultaneously.
Medical specialists from Pakistan Navy will also accompany the Peace Ark staff during free medical camps.
Pakistan Navy has also arranged seminars and professional discussions on medical topics with specialist teams of Peace Ark for mutual learning and benefit. app
