Shah calls for resignation of other ECP members
ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah has welcomed the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim and has called on other commission members to follow suit.
Speaking to Geo News, Shah said the presidential election was controversial and a constitutional crisis had been created in the country. “The resignation of the CEC shows that he had made mistakes. The CEC had felt that the presidential election was unlawful,” Shah said.
The opposition leader added that CEC Ebrhaim should have resigned when the presidential election schedule was changed.
Earlier on Wednesday, CEC Ebrahim tendered his resignation stating that the new parliament should appoint a new Chief Election Commissioner.
