‘Helping IDPs religious, national obligation’

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said an all-out help and assistance will be provided to brethren and sisters of North Waziristan as it is a collective religious and national obligation.

He was talking to Akuwat director Dr Amjad Saqib who met him here on Wednesday. Dr Amjad gave a cheque of Rs 200,000 to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the help of displaced persons on behalf of his organization.

The chief minister said help and assistance to the displaced families of North Waziristan was a noble gesture. He said that the affected people would not be left alone in this moment. He said the government and the people of Punjab were standing by their Pakhtun brethren and sisters at this difficult time.

He said the Punjab government had already provided Rs 50 crore for the provision of relief to the Pakhtun people while Punjab cabinet and provincial lawmakers belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-N had donated their one month's salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
