Israeli atrocities against Palestinians unacceptable
* Nawaz says people of Pakistan are with people of Gaza and will support their right to have a free and independent state
ISLAMABAD: Reiterating Pakistan’s support to Palestinians in their right to have a free and independent state, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said Israeli atrocities against innocent Palestinians were ‘’unacceptable and violation of all human rights’’.
“Israeli government has always used brutal force against unarmed Palestinians which amounts to war crime,” he said in a statement issued here. The prime minister maintained, “The people of Pakistan are with the people of Gaza and will support their right to have a free and independent state”.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the Israeli aggression and expressed its concern at the recent escalation of violence and loss of lives in Gaza.
In a statement here on Wednesday the Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan supports the international community’s efforts in bringing about a cessation of unilateral Israeli strikes killing Palestinians, including women and children.
She said Pakistan has consistently supported the Palestinian cause, specially the two-state solution which paves way for a viable, geographically contiguous Palestinian state, created on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Moreover, on reports of electoral fraud in Afghan presidential polls, she said that Pakistan supports a peaceful democratic transition in Afghanistan.
“Pakistan has extended all possible support for the efforts aimed at holding peaceful elections. In this regard, we took several measures to enhance vigilance and security along the border, during the first and second round of elections on April 5 and June 14, respectively.”
