Online

LAHORE: Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique suggested Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan not to use Independence Day of Pakistan (August 14) for his protest. Addressing a press conference on Sunday at Lahore Press Club, Saad Rafique said Imran Khan should not make August 14 controversial by staging a protest march. He said, “The country is battling terrorism and under such circumstances a protest on the Independence Day will give a negative message to our enemies.” The Minister urged Imran Khan to change the day and date for protest. Saad said that the Pakistan Army is fighting a decisive battle in North Waziristan to eliminate terrorism, that the entire nation and all political parties are united against anti-state factors. The Minister urged the political leadership of the country to remove their differences and become united. Meanwhile in Sialkot, Water, Power and Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Sunday said that the Zarb-e-Azb operation had been launched for complete elimination of terrorists. Talking to sources, he said that the nation was supporting the operation and Pakistan Army for getting rid of terrorism and maintain peace in the country. He said it was very unfortunate that some political elements were trying to sabotage the operation and undermining national interests for their personal gains, adding that people would not allow any political element to sabotage the operation. Kh Asif said, “At this critical juncture, unity has become more imperative and people should forge unity among their ranks to foil evil designs of the anti-state elements because some political elements were trying to create chaos in the country but the government will fulfil its responsibilities for maintaining law and order.” Political leaders should refrain from holding “road shows” because the parliament was the best forum for discussing all issues and leaders should use it for resolving all issues, he said.
