Supermodel Ayyan Ali released from Adiala jail

RAWALPINDI: Supermodel Ayyan Ali was released from prison on bail in the currency smuggling case. The model had spent over four months in the Adiala jail.

Ayyan was arrested from the Benazir International airport in Islamabad with $500,000 on May 14, 2015. The model was arrested over charges of tying to leave the country for Dubai with this amount.
Earlier, Banking Court Judge Sabir Sultan signed the documents of Ayyan’s release and all other legal paperwork was completed.
Ayyan distributed all her belongings being used in jail including clothes, makeup and money to inmates.
A three car entourage arrived at Adiala jail to pick her up.
Yesterday, though bail bonds had been approved, the supermodel spent one more night in the detention facility.
According to reports, lawyers got the bail bonds approved from the session judge at his residence after working hours and flew them to Rawalpindi.
However, civil judge Muhammad Naeem in Rawalpindi refused to issue the release order, saying the Lahore High Court order must be implemented in its true spirit.
He said nobody could be granted undue lenience, directing lawyers to approach trial court or a duty judge to get the bail on Thursday.
