ISLAMABAD - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on his way back from Indonesia, will be stopping over at Islamabad on Saturday and hold meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Foreign Office spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said the two leaders would hold discussions on enhancement of bilateral relations and global issues of mutual interest.
Erdogan had earlier visited Lahore and Islamabad in December 2013 as the prime minister of the Republic of Turkey. It was his seventh visit to Pakistan in the last 10 years, signifying substantial growth and strengthening of relations under his government. This would be his first visit to Islamabad as the president of Turkey.
The spokesman said Pakistan deeply appreciated the personal contribution to the growth and expansion of Pakistan-Turkey relations under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Pakistan’s relations with Turkey have seen tremendous improvement and dynamism in the last few years. Since the assumption of office by Nawaz Sharif, bilateral relations have acquired a new direction and dynamism,” he said.
“Most importantly, there is eagerness on both sides to translate our historic and cordial relations into a durable strategic and economic partnership,” he added.
