FO briefs foreign envoys on Kashmir unrest
By: NNI
ISLAMABAD: The ambassadors of African and Middle Eastern countries were briefed at the Foreign Office on Friday over the atrocities in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) and the continuing crisis.
Pakistan’s serious concern over the brutal killings of innocent civilians and violation of their fundamental human rights by Indian police and paramilitary was conveyed in detail. These concerns have been widely shared by the international community and the human rights activists including some Indian based groups.
The envoys were educated on the lethal actions taken by the Indian forces against the innocent and unarmed civilians that led to 40 civilian deaths and over 2,000 injuries, with at least 400 in critical condition. The use of pellet guns left more than 70 people visually impaired.
The Foreign Office hammered at the fact that the international community should also raise its voice against the blatant human rights violations of innocent Kashmiri in the disputed state. It was emphasised that the inhumane and oppressive measures taken by India cannot deter the valiant Kashmiris from their demand of exercising their right to self-determination, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
