Army chief calls Misbah, congratulates team on victory
LORD'S: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called Pakistani cricket test team captain Misbah-ul-Haq and congratulated him on the victory against England, on Sunday.
According to a tweet by DG ISPR General Asim Bajwa, the army chief called Misbah-ul-Haq and conveyed his congratulations to the entire team on beating England at the first test match.
The DG ISPR termed the victory as a 'historic one' in his tweet.
Yasir Shah helped the tourists beat the hosts by raking in 10 wickets in the match and a century by captain Misbah-ul-Haq also helped the team secure a 1-0 lead over England in the series.
After the match, Pakistani captain Misbah-ul-Haq dedicated the win to deceased philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi.
It was a historic win for Pakistan as they had returned to the same venue six years after the infamous spot-fixing saga had put the nation's cricket into disrepute.
