Senate chairman urges young interns to be the ambassadors of democracy
ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani, while addressing an Internship completion certificate distribution ceremony at the Parliament House on Saturday observed that the young generation of Pakistan has the better potential to take this country forward.
Addressing the participants, he said that the internship programme was initiated and resourced by the Senate and MOUs were signed with different universities to provide an opportunity to the young students to closely observe the working of the parliament and show them the process of legislation. Institutional linkages, like other progressive countries, were developed between the parliament and the universities to acquaint the students with legislative process and senate secretariat also benefited from the fresh commitment and valor of the interns.
“Your input will be highly useful and of great value for us,” the chairman Senate called upon the students, urging them to be the ambassadors of democracy. He expressed the hope that the experiences will prove highly beneficial for future of the interns. He wished them success in their careers.
Senate Secretary Amjed Pervez Malik also addressed on the occasion and highlighted the aims and objectives of the programme. He said that the aim of this programme was to learn from the new ideas of the young generation and in turn give them an insight to the working of parliament. He said the interns played a key role in increasing the efficiency of the secretariat by bringing into use the new technology.
The ceremony was attended by senators and senior officers of the Senate. Interns termed it a good experience and appreciated the cooperation extended by the Senate Secretariat during the internship period.
