LAHORE: Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that Panama Papers have no legal status and many countries did not take the issue seriously on Sunday.

Addressing a function Saad said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) respected the judicial system of the country and will respect the verdict of the Panama Papers Case.

He went on to say that they are not given the answers of who leaked Hussain Nawaz’s picture and why calls are being made on WhatsApp. “We don’t want popular verdict. We want proper judgment,” he said.

The railways minister stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif doesn’t disappoint the country. “Even strong and brave countries like the United States tried everything it can to counter Pakistan after it conducted nuclear tests in 1998,” Saad said.

The minister stated that the government will not allow the country to “go back in reverse”. He went on to say that they are being subjected to hatred and biasness. He added that they did not wish to challenge anyone.

Saad said that Charter of Democracy was signed to bury the negative politics; however, certain elements are trying to revive the politics of hatred. He said that government inherited worst challenges when it came into power in 2013 but PM Nawaz successfully cope with all crises and restored people's confidence.

Saad said that international financial journals and institutions are now acknowledging economic growth in Pakistan.

He went on to say that it did not please those who wanted to spread bias and hatred in the country. He stated that the ruling party is targeted whenever they try to resolve the issues of the country. He added, “Pakistan cannot be made according to someone’s design.”

He also said that the peace has returned in Karachi and Balochistan. He claimed that the enemies of Pakistan will not allow the country to progress. He went on to say that Pakistan was made with the power of votes.

The PML-N leader explained that his remarks yesterday warning the opposition not to derail democracy were his own personal political views and had nothing to do with the PML-N's party policy.

The Federal Minister in a speech on Saturday cautioned Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan that he wouldn’t benefit either if the democratic set-up was packed up.
