COAS visits Lahore blast injured at General Hospital

LAHORE: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Lahore General Hospital where almost three dozen of the injured victims are undergoing treatment on Tuesday.

The army chief was given a briefing on the nature of injuries by the hospital's medical superintendent. According to the Inter Services Public Relations, the army chief departed from Rawalpindi earlier to head to Lahore to chair a meeting on security issues following the Lahore blast.

Around 26 people, including nine policemen, were martyred and more than 50 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near Lahore's Ferozepur Road on Monday afternoon.

Initial investigations have revealed that the bomber had help from two facilitators who accompanied him to the site of the incident. Lt Gen Sadiq Ali is the commander of the Pakistan Army's IV Corps, which is headquartered in Lahore.
