KARACHI: Authorities on Saturday claimed to pen a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) pertaining to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Friday night corner meeting in Nazimabad area.
According to the authorities, MQM-P held the meeting despite being refused permission.
However, Senior MQM-P leader Kanwar Naveed Jameel asserted that the party had submitted a request seeking permission at the Deputy Commissioner’s office three days prior to the meetings.
Jameel bursting out at the authorities said that the party had sought permission officially, yet the power supply to the meeting’s venue was cut off.
He added that his party was not allowed to place banners anywhere in the metropolis, whereas Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) installed banners have not been removed as yet.
Jameel said that attempts were being made to bring out pre-engineered results.
MQM-P party convenor Khalid Maqbool said that the party has been in Karachi since the past 35 years and holds every right to this city.
