ECP suspends all local body officials till July,25
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) suspended mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen, and vice-chairmen of all the local bodies across the country.
According to the ECP the action has been taken to ensure free, fair, and impartial elections on July25.
However, earlier this month the commission had shuffled civil servants across the country to attenuate the influence of bureaucracy over the election process in the country.
Moreover, in its notification, the ECP said that the army officials deployed for polling duty are given powers of first-class magistrate.
According to press briefing of ISPR, 370,000 troops will render their services for election process. These troops will be deployed inside as well as outside the polling station.
The general election in Pakistan will be held on July 25.
