No foul language in future, Imran Khan’s counsel assures ECP
Khan had said in a rally prior to the arrival of Nawaz and Maryam Sharif that whosoever will go to the airport to recieve them is a "donkey." After much controversy with regards to these comments the ECP issued Khan and his counsel a suo moto notice.ISLAMABAD: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan was summoned today by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to conduct an inquiry regarding the inappropriate language Khan used to address PML-N workers.
Khan had said in a rally prior to the arrival of Nawaz and Maryam Sharif that whosoever will go to the airport to receive them is a “donkey”. After much controversy with regards to these comments, the ECP issued Khan a notice.
The PTI Chairman was not present himself because of a busy campaigning schedule in Lahore, however, his chief counsel Babar Awan defended him saying that “donkey is an ordinary term”. He further argued that even teachers in classroom use the term, however, he did vow to the ECP that Khan will not indulge in the use of such language from now on.
Interestingly enough, in order to make a case of his argument, he further played a video of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ayaz Sadiq in which he was bashing PTI, the relevance of the clip, however, was lost for the ECP and it was commented that notices will be issued to candidates using such foul language against their opponents.
