Magistrate rights to army officials can be equated with rigging: Farhatullah Babar

He further said that the interim government's assertions that these rights were given to army officials with the consent of the Parliament is a half truth at best and said that such a move can be easily equated with rigging.

ISLAMABAD: The secretary general of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Farhatullah Babar has said that the fact that army officials have been given the rights of magistrates on polling day raises a variety of questions.

He further said that the interim government’s assertions that these rights were given to army officials with the consent of the Parliament is a half truth at best and said that such a move can be easily equated with rigging.

Farhatullah Babar also said that he is aware of the fact that his protest will have no weightage but he felt the need to make his party’s position clear and on record.

The deployment of article 245 to grant these privileges to army officials has remained a controversial decision throughout this election.
