No Decision to End Standing Committees’ Boycott: Gohar
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Wednesday rejected outright an impression that the party had decided to end the boycott of parliamentary standing committees.
When contacted to ascertain the exact party position on this matter, he told The News that no decision had been taken on going back to the standing committees of the Senate and National Assembly.
“No decision has been taken so far, and such decisions are to be taken only by Khan Sahib,” he explained.
Another party source pointed out that there were some party lawmakers who continued to use official vehicles and other facilities despite having tendered resignations from these committees. “It is another issue that our resignations have not been accepted but some are interested in ending boycott of these committees,” he confirmed.
In a related development, the party’s chief whip in the National Assembly Malik Amir Dogar denied reports of ending boycott of standing committees, saying the decision remained unchanged. – The NewsCourtesy The News
