Rangers/police security posts set up in Lyari
KARACHI: Rangers and police have jointly set up security posts in Lyari following a search operation carried out due to the ongoing gang war in the area that left 7 dead and over a dozen injured.
The gang war that is underway between the groups of Rehman Dakait and Ghafar Zikri in Eidu Lane, Baghdadi and Juna Market has so far claimed 7 lives. Those killed in the violence have been identified as Ali, Saqib, Latif, Yousuf, Shahjehan, Shahid and Shahu.
Four of the dead belonged to Rehman Dakait clan while three were associated with Ghafar Zikri group.
The injured were shifted different hospitals of the city.
Some of the armed men also hurled hand grenades at Baghdadi Police Station in which, fortunately, no casualties occurred. The incident brought the police and Rangers into action who jointly conducted a search operation in Eidu Lane and Zikri Muhalla.
Raid was carried out at the house of the most wanted man of Lyari gang war Ghafar Zikri but no arrests came about as a result.
Joint security posts are being set up in the areas being cleared after search operation by the police and Rangers.
Additional forces of police and Rangers have been requisitioned for dealing with any untoward situation.
