Gilani orders for relief on war footing
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has telephoned Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani to inquire about the impact of Cyclone Phet on the coastal areas, and also asked about the provincial relief and rescue efforts. He directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Nadeem Ahmad to visit Sindh on Monday (today) and Balochistan on Tuesday (tomorrow) to make ground assessment of the damages, according to a news release issued by the PM House on Sunday. The NDMA has been asked to play a lead role to assist the cyclone-hit coastal areas, and the emergency cell of the Cabinet Division has also been directed to support the NDMA. staff report
