Taliban leadership has fled Pakistan, Afghanistan: Qureshi

ISTANBUL: Pakistan military’s successful operations in tribal areas have forced many important Taliban leaders to flee outside Pakistan and Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Monday. Addressing a joint press conference with his Afghan and Turkish counterparts, Qureshi said Taliban leaders have fled the region because of Pakistani military operations. Referring to Pak-Afghan ties, the foreign minister said that relations have seen a “dramatic shift” since Pakistan returned to civilian-led democracy. “Our political relations have improved in the last two years. There is also greater understanding between the military leaderships of the two countries,” he said. reuters
