Gen McChrystal updates Kayani on Afghanistan operationsStaff Report
ISLAMABAD: General Stanley McChrystal, commander of the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), visited Pakistan on Monday to update Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Kayani on ISAF’s operations in Afghanistan.
According to a press release by the US embassy, Gen McChrystal visits Pakistan regularly to consult Gen Kayani and Pakistan’s leaders regarding ISAF activities.
It said the ISAF and the US continue to collaborate with Pakistan to achieve mutual goals of defeating extremists and establishing peace and security in Pakistan and the region.
The Inter-Services Public Relations said General McChrystal remained with the army chief for some time and discussed matters of professional interest.
