Stop ridiculing judiciary’s freedom: Nawaz


LAHORE: The chief of Pakistan Muslim League- (Nawaz), Nawaz Sharif has urged the government to accept courts decision and stop ridicule freedom of judiciary.

Talking to newsmen here Thursday, the PML-N chief reiterated his demand for the resignation of those lawmakers holding fake academic records.

“Holding fake deg is a fraud, it’s cheating with the masses. They should quit voluntarily,” he said.

In reply to a query, he admitted that there were some flaws and negligence by the party in selection process of the candidates. He pledged that the party would not issue election tickets to any fake degree holders in future and urged fake degree holders to resign voluntarily in order to save themselves from embarrassment.

Nawaz said the Election Commission of Pakistan should have scrutinized fake documents of the candidates contesting elections, adding that a delay was made in this regard by the EC.

The two-time Prime Minister slammed presidential pardon to some convicts.

He said judicial independence was being ridiculed, adding that the Parliament and judiciary should be given due respect.

Regarding Pakistan’s dialogues with India, Nawaz said “We should have good neighborly ties with India; however, resolution of issues should only be through talks.

He expressed regret over lose of a drive’s family who committed suicide due to the poverty.

Four people, including two minor girls and a boy, died when a family of five consumed toxic pills in an attempt to commit suicide on Wednesday in the Shahpur area of Lahore.

Akbar, a 40-year-old rickshaw driver took poisonous pills along with his wife and three children due to poverty.
