Public confidence in judiciary on rise: CJP
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Saturday said that public confidence in judiciary has witnessed marked improvement and that a clear proof of this fact comes from a growing number of court cases.
Addressing a roll signing ceremony of 18 lawyers, the CJP said the people are now pinning high hopes with the judiciary and its clear reflection is in the rising number of court cases.
Justice Iftkhar Chaudhry said the courts do always make their judgments in accordance with the Constitution and law. The duty of the court is to interpret the Constitution, he added.
He exhorted upon the lawyers to go to courts with thorough preparation since their lukewarm interest in cases would only dilute people’s confidence in the judiciary. Dispensation of justice is the responsibility of both the bar and the bench, he asserted.
