Awan gets legal notice for ‘ruthless spending’

Staff Report

LAHORE: Advocate Malik Tariq Aziz has sent a legal notice to Federal Law Minister Babar Awan for ‘extravagant spending’ during his Multan tour and for issuing a grant of Rs 40 million to the Multan Bar Association to gain the lawyers’ favour.
The lawyer also alleged that the minister had chartered an Air Force aircraft for the tour and had paid Rs 5 million for the ‘service’. The minister had no authority to spend public money, the notice said.
The notice stated that the Finance Ministry was also being asked not to approve such bills. Aziz asked the minister to mend his ways, or he (Aziz) would be obliged to sue him.
