SC moved for arrest of accused in Bugti murder
ISLAMABAD: Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti, the chief of the Jamhoori Watan Party, filed a petition on Monday requesting the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice and order the arrest of an accused named in the killing of his father Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
Talal Bugti requested the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo motu action to bring the culprits to justice. Talal Bugti stated in his application, that despite a First Information Report (FIR) having been registered against former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf and others for killing Akbar Bugti, no person had so far been arrested.
“The former dictator has also been named in the FIR for his role in the Red Mosque tragedy and for the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto,” he added.
He said that after years of delay, the FIR of the case was registered on October 13, 2009, on the orders of the Balochistan High Court.
The applicant pleaded the apex court to issue ‘red warrants’ against Musharraf so that he could be brought back to Pakistan through Interpol.
