UK assessing Pakistan needs: British secretary


KARACHI: British foreign secretary William Hague Thursday said the UK government is taking stock of Pakistan needs and that his current visit here is in the same connection.

He said this during his meeting with Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan here at Governor House.

William Hague underscored the need for building confidence of foreign investors, terming it important for progress of Pakistan.

He also stressed the significance of accountability in the law enforcement agencies for establishing an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad on the occasion said the city enjoys a total ethnic harmony.

Speaking about the improvement of the transport system of the city, he said funds are required for installation of mass transit system and added that opportunities for investment also exist in many other sectors.
